THE RICHMOND RAMBLER
This 1967 rambler was a vision in wall-to-wall avocado shag when these owners first took possession of the property. Having chipped away at incremental renovations, a slew of unavoidable plumbing upgrades indicated it was time to overhaul both baths.
With hammer in hand, both rooms were taken down to the studs and fully reimagined. A soaking tub was installed in the primary bath, and a fully glazed walk-in shower was added to the guest bath. Since the rooms are immediately adjacent to each other, the palette was treated as a “variation on a theme” with subtle shifts in materials and furnishing, but an overall cohesive ambience.
Unlacquered brass tapware, handmade floor tiles, Carrara marble, and custom light fixtures all add subtle luxury to these highly utilitarian spaces.
EVERYBODY LOVES A BEFORE…
