What do interior designers do? Ensure the work is done right.

“Truly elegant design incorporates top-notch functionality into a simple, uncluttered form.”

— David Lewis

Phase three of our design process is EXECUTION, and it’s where the rubber meets the road during construction and installation.

PHASE 3: EXECUTION

In our studio, we break EXECUTION down into three sub-categories — OVERSIGHT, FURNISHING & CLOSEOUT.

OVERSIGHT

Oversight (sometimes called Construction Administration) is the boots-on-the-ground phase where we partner with contractors and tradesfolk to ensure field work aligns with the design concept & detailing. We assess revisions, we review shop drawings, and we approve material submittals. We hold our trade partners accountable, and work diligently to make sure you receive the highest level of craftsmanship and customer service. This is where our problem-solving skills kick into high gear when there’s issues like product discontinuations, dimensional variations, and unexpected surprises on site. When issues arise, we make sure they get resolved in a timely and acceptable manner.

We might make 500 decisions during the Design and Production phases, but there are always 500 more to address during Execution.

FURNISHING

After all interior architectural groundwork has been laid we layer in the personalized elements. Furniture, furnishings, lighting, window coverings, art and accessories are the elements that make a house a home. We coordinate installation with our movers, we unbox your treasures, we zhoosh, and make final on-site adjustments to layouts to make sure your space feels & functions just right. As unglamorous as it may sound, we make sure all waste is removed from site and sent off to donation, recycling, and waste centers.

CLOSEOUT

After the work is complete, we review the final product to ensure the project has been completed according to plan and to the owner’s satisfaction. If there are outstanding issues to be addressed, we draft and maintain a comprehensive punch list that we follow up on until all items have been satisfactorily resolved.
