SUNSET HILL ADDITION
Just as the hillside starts to rise towards its peak above Golden Gardens beach, this quaint Cape Cod cottage nestles into a sunny corner lot dotted with Japanese maples, rosemary, and lavender. Dating back to 1939, the new owners felt this home was in need of strategic modernization including the addition of a primary bath, powder bath, and fresh finishes throughout.
Taking cues from the surrounding gardens, the design team sought to infuse each space with bold pops of color while respecting the original architectural character in the millwork and casework details. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a cheerful floral print wallpaper that ties together the accent colors that are present throughout the home. In the living room, built-in cabinetry was added to echo original details, while providing the perfect window seat for furry friends to survey the neighborhood comings and goings.
At the lower level, the design embraced more subterranean hues in the media room and office. Having limited access to daylight and views, we chose to lean into moodier hues to create cozy enclaves for both work and play.
